Dr. David Yates
Business & Technical Strategy
David C. Yates leads the short to medium term R&D (with Paul) and the product strategy. He is also a director and member of the board of Bumblebee Power. He received an M.Eng. degree in electrical and electronic engineering and a Ph.D. from Imperial College London, U.K., in 2001 and 2006, respectively. His background is in RF circuit design, power electronics and wide bang-gap circuits, as well as magnetics. He runs the wireless power lab with Paul Mitcheson, which has provided the initial technology that underpins Bumblebee Power. He has commercial experience in both consulting and a previous Imperial spin out, as well as in expert witness work.
Brian Graves leads the commercial and business strategy of Bumblebee Power. Having previously been MD of Technology Transfer at Imperial Innovations, the IP Commercialisation company at Imperial College, Brian is very familiar with the challenges faced by early-stage technology-based companies across a wide range of technologies and markets. Brian joined Imperial Innovations after a 20 year career with John Crane, a £945m division of Smiths Group supplying sealing system solutions for pumps and compressors globally. While there, he led the development and implementation of marketing strategy, new product development and competitive intelligence.
Prof. Paul Mitcheson
Paul D. Mitcheson leads the medium to long term R&D strategy (with David) and is a director and member of the board of Bumblebee Power. He received an M.Eng. degree in electrical and electronic engineering and a Ph.D. from Imperial College London, U.K., in 2001 and 2005, respectively. He is currently a Professor in Electrical Energy Conversion at Imperial and leads the Wireless Power Lab with David Yates. He was recently general co-chair of IEEE Wireless Power Week 2019 in London. He has commercial experience in both consulting and a previous Imperial spin out, as well as expert in witness work.
